A. Introduction & Eyesight
Duration: 30 minutes
Element A is the formal opening of your CBT. Your instructor verifies your provisional licence, checks your clothing meets safety standards, and confirms your eyesight at the legally required distance of 20.5 metres (a number plate at that distance).
Practical checklist

Provisional licence
Bring the physical card. Photocopies and apps are not accepted.

Eyesight test
Read a number plate at 20.5m. Wear glasses or contacts if you need them.

Clothing check
Sturdy boots, full-length trousers (denim acceptable), gloves, jacket.

Helmet fit
If you bring your own, expect it to be inspected for damage and correct fit.

Common mistakes
- Forgetting the physical provisional licence — without it, no CBT.
- Wearing trainers or shorts. Closed boots above the ankle only.
- Lying about needing glasses. The eyesight check is non-negotiable.
Pass tips
- Arrive 15 minutes early to fit gear without rushing.
- Eat beforehand — you'll be on your feet for 8+ hours.
- Confirm with your provider what's included before arrival.
